What must a museum do?

  • Assess the risk of exposure to arsenic by investigating where arsenic is likely to be found in collections, what employees and others are doing with those collections, and whether these people appear to be significantly exposed to arsenic.
  • Find ways to remove or reduce any significant risks of exposure to arsenic. If it is believed there are adequate precautions already in place, there is probably nothing additional that needs to be done.
  • Ensure the risk assessment and other relevant information about arsenic is shared with everyone likely to come into contact with these objects.
