What can I do?

Do not assume that an object which is in a museum collection cannot be dangerous. If you are concerned about an object containing an explosive or energetic substance:

  • Do not move the object.
  • Stop work and vacate the area. If possible, prevent others from entering.
  • Warn anyone nearby and inform the site supervisor / manager.
  • If you are concerned about an immediate threat to safety, raise the alarm and telephone the emergency services.
  • Otherwise, if there is unlikely to be any immediate safety risk, contact a qualified person such as an EOD contractor for specialist advice.
