Museums with collections that have potential for objects designed or intended to contain an explosive or energetic material should evaluate whether there are any risks remaining today.
Museums are recommended to follow the best practice of the military: obtain expert proof that objects which were designed or intended to contain an explosive or energetic material are now ‘Free From Explosives’ (FFE).
Non-military museums will usually require expert assistance from Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) qualified contractors who will provide the museum with an FFE Certificate for each object satisfactorily examined.
