What must a museum do?

  • Assess the risk of exposure to hazardous spirit collections by investigating what hazards are known or suspected in spirit collection objects, what employees and others are doing with those objects, and whether people appear to be significantly exposed to the hazards.
  • Remove or reduce significant risks of exposure to hazardous spirit collections. If it is believed there are adequate precautions already in place, there is probably nothing additional that needs to be done.
  • Ensure the risk assessment and other information about spirit collections is shared with everyone working in the vicinity of these objects.
